Support Space Programs

Hi folks! I’m Winter, The Cape Breton Youth

Project’s programming coordinator.

Our team has been working hard to get our

offices ready so we can welcome you all in and

launch our events and programming. Our fun

projects and activities are still in the works,

but our support groups are ready to return

this May!

We will be running four unique support groups

on Thursdays at our office.

Two of these programs will be offered by The

Youth Project, with two more being offered in

partnership with Caper Base & Nova Scotia

Health.

These are dedicated spaces meant to work

through tough topics, conversations with a

focus on support, healing, and learning.

All support groups will take place at The Youth

Project, located on 20 Townsend Street, Sydney.

Our two Cape Base programs are Finding

Balance and Free 2BU. Our two Youth Project

programs are Young Adults & Senior Youth

(YASY) and Cape Breton GSA

communication, time management, self-

take place on the 1st Thursday of every month

from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. Finding Balance requires

participants to explore, develop, and discover

their own strengths. Free 2BU is open to youth

YASY is a monthly support program for youth

looking for community & solidarity, peer

support, help navigating tricky questions,

shared

experiences, and more! YASY is geared towards

our older teens and young folk to learn from

and support each other through our

experiences. Our senior youth help bring folks

to speed on what is current. Our young adults

have already navigated many of the trials

that senior youth are presently enduring. Both

groups serve as great role models for each

other.

YASY is open to 2SLGBTQ+ youth between the ages

of 16-25.

This program will take place on the 2nd

Thursday of each month from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.

Registration is not required. Our first group

will meet on May 12th 2022.

CB GSA is a monthly support program for youth

looking for community & solidarity, peer

support, help navigating tricky questions,

shared experiences, and more! Think of this like

your school's own GSA, but instead of just your

school the whole island is invited every month.

CB GSA is open to 2SLGBTQ+ youth between the

ages of 12 through 18, in middle school, high

school, home schooled, or otherwise.

This program will take place on the 4th

Thursday of each month from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.

Registration is not required.

Our first group will meet on May 26th 2022.
